Game Status Update #5: The Orders of the Xivanthian Empire

As proof that I have not been just fooling around and am actively working on the story and possible ideas for my game, I'm going to go a bit deeper in on the political situation within the Xivanthian Empire, which is ruled by the MC.

First of all, there exist a few orders within the Empire, some backed by the Emperor and others not.
These are the main ones:

* Ordo Consiliarii Imperii:
Although all decisions in the Imperium Xivanthia are made solely by the Emperor, he still takes advise from his most trusted servants. These advisors have proven their unyielding loyalty to Him over the years and are considered without equal within their area's of speciality. These individuals have been gathered in the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii and assist him in his daily tasks.

* Ordo Militiae:
The military backbone of the Empire. Mainly consists out of veteran soldiers and knights. Contains most military organisations as well, such as the City Guard, Border Patrol, Imperial Navy and so forth. The leaders of the Ordo Militiae stand in for the recruitment proces, organisation of the different branches and the coordination of their operations.
Has an ongoing rivalry with the Sisterhood of the Sword.

Backed by the Emperor and the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii.

* Ordo Scutariorum:
The most elite of the Sisterhood of the Sword and the Ordo Militiae are sent to the Ordo Scutariorum. They are the acting Imperial guard, whom stand in for the personal safety of the Emperor.

Backed by the Emperor and the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii.

* Ordo Clericorum:
The official Ordo that trains priests from different religions to cater the spiritual needs of the citizens of the Imperium Xivanthia. They have official temples in almost every city and village within the Empire. These temples also function as hospitals and clinics that treat soldier as well as civilian for free.

Backed by the Emperor and the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii.

* Ordo Religio Imperii:
A religious order that promotes the belief that the Emperor is the living embodiment of a divine being. This order counts many followers but is not officially supported by the Emperor. They do however have the permission to build their own temples on legally acquired building plots.

Not backed by the Emperor and the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii.

* Sisterhood of the Sword:
A military order tied to but independent from the Ordo Religio Imperii.
Maiden girls pledged to the Sisterhood by pious followers are taken away from their parents at birth to evaluate their worth to the Sisterhood. They then undergo a grueling physical and psychological training tailored to their talents and weaknesses. Most become warriors, warmaidens or follow in the footsteps of the Emperor as Dark Templar, but some become archivists or field medics.
Because of their worth proven in battle the Emperor and the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii have decided to allow them among the ranks of the Xivanthian military as an independant organisation, much to the dismay of the Ordo Militiae. Brawls between the Ordo Militiae and the Sisterhood are not uncommon.

Backed by the Emperor and the Ordo Consiliarii Imperii.

These are the current orders within the Imperium Xivanthia. I'm still brainstorming for more, so if anyone has any ideas, be sure to let them know.

And of course, a song to end this post:

Game Status Update #4: Putting the game development itself on hold.

I have been reviewing my free time and my game developing schedule, and have come to the conclusion that much to my regret, I still am an idiot without any sense for time. As of such, I have decided to put the game production beyond mapping on hold, and finish working on the story first.

And of course, here is a song:

Game Status Update #3: And here we go again...

So I have been having a few of RL issues lately, which are hopefully resolved now. As of such, I can finally put some effort in creating Legends of Meinan again.

Well, the map-making of the starter island, Strife Isle, is complete for now, unless I decide to add something more. Making the quests is proving to be more difficult than I hoped, especially now since there has been quite a while between now and the last time I was busy with creating a game in RPG VX Ace.

I'm also still busy writing out the story which the game is trying to tell, and I've currently reached a writer's block. That's also one of the reasons I decided to focus on actually creating the game, in the hope that some inspiration will come to me.

I'm hoping to have a playable version out by the end of this week, but at the same time fearing that it won't be ready by then. I suppose we'll see.

And as usual, here's a little song:

Game Status Update #2: RL sucks

So, quick status update.

While the demo version has progressed a lot, I haven't really been able to look at it a lot the last 2-3 weeks due to RL throwing stuff in my way.

Well, I suspect the demo will be done soon though, but I'm not going to promise anything. Most of the areas and dungeons are finished, but event scripting and testing are going a tad slow. But I have a few friends who are willing to bugtest the game for me now, so at least it'll go a bit faster.

And I'm going to make a habit of posting a song everytime I do a blogpost, since I really, really like music. Kind of an addiction, really.

Game Status Update #1: And thus a blog is born!

Well, this is where I'll be posting status updates on the development of my game.
If no-one reads this blog, at least it'll help me keep track of what I'm doing and trying to accomplish.

Oh well, here's a song I really like listening to, just for the sake of posting something shareable on my first post. It's one of the songs I often play when working on the game.
